Ever wonder what it’s like to work in one of the country’s top wedding venues? Working with clients from all over the country who come in just to get married at one of your venues? Well Rachel Urquhart, event manager for Patrick Properties, does just that on a weekly basis! I have had the pleasure of working with Rachel on numerous events in one of Patrick Properties’ most popular venues, Lowndes Grove, for parties from 75 guests to 320. Needless to say, Rachel has seen and done it all! Today’s Wedding Wednesday Spotlight is directed on this extremely organized, detail oriented, and amazing event manager. I am so excited for you all to learn more about her and what she does here in Charleston!

WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR COMPANY AND WHAT DO YOU DO?

  • I am an event manager at Patrick Properties Hospitality Group. We manage four historically preserved venues across Charleston with the fifth being Fish restaurant. I assist in the menu planning process and oversee all things food and beverage during special events and weddings. 

 

I had the pleasure of meeting this next, fabulous Charleston vendor almost two years ago when my wonderful roommate, Lucy, was working as the team assistant for this amazing brand. I was in instant awe of this #girlboss for taking on the challenge of opening her own bridesmaid line in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina. Katherine McDonald, the fabulous designer behind Kate McDonald Bridal and LulaKate, is today’s Wedding Wednesday Spotlight and I am so excited for you all to learn more about her background and experience. Although, one of the most important aspects of a wedding, the thing that makes it a true event, are the rentals! It is people like her that make our jobs that much easier. Being a wedding planner, you feel extra pressure to keep every detail organized for a wedding. From the timeline to the execution of the event, there are many little things to keep in mind. Although I take on that stress every week, I still don’t think I could take on the pressure of a photographer to capture every little moment of your event. Brides dream about the moment their groom sees them for the first time and how their place setting looks with all of the custom made place cards and without the talent of a fantastic photographer, those details can be lost.

Luckily, with Sean Money and Elizabeth Fay, you never have to worry about them missing those little elements. Their attention to detail is impeccable and their outgoing personalities make you want be around them all day!
